They set voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products around the globe–and more and more producers, suppliers and buyers are harmonising their certification standards to match.

Red Tractor was established in 2000 and has grown to become the UK‘s biggest farm and food standards scheme, covering all of animal welfare, food safety, traceability and environmental protection. The Red Tractor logo on pack means that your food or drink has met these responsible production standards and is fully traceable back to independently inspected farms in the UK.

Nurture was launched in 1992, to ensure Tesco delivers world class quality fruit and vegetables for our customers. It is an exclusive, independently accredited, quality standard that assures you, our customer, that Tesco fruit and vegetables are grown in an environmental and responsible way. Each grower is independently audited and monitored regularly to ensure we continue to meet the exacting standard.

Marks & Spencer Field to Fork aims to guarantee the high-quality of the food that the retailer is famous for offering. The audit standards are more extensive in requirements than other assurance initiatives and are regularly reviewed to ensure standards are maintained, and every farm is regularly audited.

Set up in 1991, LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) is a registered charity (No. 1045781) promoting environmentally responsible farming, through encouraging farmers globally to produce food with care for the environment and to improve public understanding of food and farming. They work with farmers, the food industry, scientists and consumers, to inspire and enable sustainable farming that is prosperous, enriches the environment and engages local communities.
